RAND Coffee Roastery is a specialty coffee roaster and café group in Leeds, founded by Aydin Dogan in 2010. We source our coffee direct, roast it in small batches at our own roastery in Roundhay, and pour it in three coffee shops across the city. The same coffee ships anywhere in the UK within 48 hours of the roast.
No 01 · Where it started
One café by the University.
RAND began in 2010 with Aydin Dogan and a single coffee shop at 28 Blenheim Terrace, steps from the University of Leeds. That shop is still open, still pouring for students, staff, and neighbours, and it is where everything started.
We opened on Street Lane in Roundhay, north Leeds, and in 2020 started roasting our own beans there. Since then, every coffee we pour in our shops or post to customers has been roasted by us, in Leeds.
No 02 · How we roast
Considered coffee, roasted daily.
We buy green coffee direct and roast it in small batches, every day. Each lot is cupped before it is roasted, then cupped again three days after, and we adjust the roast curve until the cup tastes the way the farm intended.
Our range is 13 single origins, from Brazil and Colombia to Ethiopia, Kenya, and Papua New Guinea, plus two blends. The RAND House Blend brings together Brazil, Ethiopia, and Vietnam: each is roasted on its own curve, then combined so the strengths of one cover the gaps of the next. The RAND Decaf Blend is our decaf.
Roasting daily means nothing waits in a warehouse. Online orders leave us within 48 hours of the roast, and the beans in our cafés were roasted days earlier, just up the road.

Aydin Dogan opens RAND on Blenheim Terrace, by the University of Leeds.

Roasting our own
RAND starts roasting in-house at Roundhay, so every cup is poured from coffee we roasted ourselves.

Roundhay, Leeds University, and Leeds City Centre, plus nationwide delivery, subscriptions, wholesale, and a franchise.
